CrystalMaker Guide: Structural Info
Using the Info Window
The "Info" window (Windows > Info) lists atoms by element
and site, showing their radii, coordination numbers, and colours. Atoms
are grouped by chemical element, into "folders". You can open/close
these groups by clicking the arrows on the left-hand side. To open/close
all folder icons, hold the option key down as you click an arrow.
- You can change colours of atoms by element, by clicking the
appropriate colour bars; you can also show or hide atoms by element, or
by site, by clicking on the atom or element icons.
- You can label atoms, either individually, by site, or collectively,
by chemical element. Using the Info Window, locate the site or element
you wish to annotate, and click on the site symbol (or element symbol);
a luggage tab is drawn around the text, and the structure is replotted.
- You can hide groups of atoms by site, or by chemical element. To hide
atoms of a particular site, click on the coloured circle (or sphere) to
the left of the atom symbol; a hollow circle appears, and the structure
is replotted with all atoms of this site hidden. To show the atoms, click
on the hollow circle again. To hide all atoms for a particular element,
click on the box icon to the left of the element symbol, adjacent to the
colour bar.
Using the Info Tool
The Info Tool on the toolbar lets you point and
click on an atom or polyhedron. The atom's number and element type is then
displayed. If you hold down the option key as you click, additional
information about the site is printed in the Output Window (Windows >Output).
Exporting Info Files
The full version of CrystalMaker lets you export listings of atomic coordinates
(Coordinates Files) and/or listings of bond distances and angles (Bond Files).
These are text files, which can be read using any word processor.
